2:1 "Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD."
(2:2) An ignoramus God asked Satan thusly:
"whence comest thou," paying no mind to his sons.
and the devil simply responds, "I've been around."
(2:3) The arrogant, holy deity replies
by bringing attention to Job's well-being,
careful to praise his steadfast morality.
(2:4-5) Not missing a beat, Satan answered his lord:
"when his mortality is threatened, man will
surrender all else to avoid certain death.
torture his physical being with sore boils,
and I guarantee he will be cursing you."
(2:6) So, God gave Satan power over Job's health,
agreeing to harm his loyal follower;
a dick scheme for a detestable ego.
(2:7) Minding the given "no death" rule, the devil
parted from the presence of God and thus cursed
Job's flesh with disgusting boils from head to toe.
(2:8) Arriving at the ashen remains, Job sits
and grabs the nearest shard of broken pottery,
scraping the boils plaguing his infected flesh.
(2:9) His wife, falling quickly out of love with him
starts criticizing his headstrong devotion,
suggesting he curse God and die already.
(2:10) Job, losing patience, calls her an idiot,
"everything is good if given by my Lord!"
and the heavens praised him defending their truth.
(2:11) Job's three friends Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar
decided to travel to their depressed friend,
wanting to offer comfort, to mourn with him...
(2:12) Arriving together, they became aghast.
In a fit of grief, they each ripped their clothes off
and covered their confused heads with handfuls of sand.
(2:13) Nobody spoke, and they knew Job was in pain.
So they chose to join him, naked on the ground
and wait seven days and seven nights to speak...
