The Nature of American Red

From quite a few years ago...

On t.v. today, I heard Bush say
"I don't like that word, so I
    think it should change."
He declared war, on a colour!
(After which, certain profits did soar)
As a nation we sighed, lifted
Not a finger, but obeyed -
And then we stood, in our classrooms
    and living rooms,
    offices and streets
- To shout out loud, "God bless the
Blood, blue and white!"
