Hey, these are merely prophesies describing the horrors of war. As Rumsfeld said, "stuff happens." Of course nowadays we are civilized; we kill babies with bombs and missiles so we don't get our hands dirty. Using swords was very messy.

Here God is actually ordering King Saul to kill the babies; this was part of a program of genocide against the Amalekites, because their ancestors had attacked Moses many generations before.

You want to point out nasty things in the Bible, but I think you are missing the best examples.

I myself approve of killing babies because their crying annoys me. The fewer of them around, the better I say.
